Is it wrong that I get annoyed driving to and picking up from every baseball practice? Is it wrong that I don’t know all the parents? Or all of the players names and numbers? Is it wrong that I curse the sky every time I am sitting under an umbrella in the rain at a game, freezing, and thinking about how all I want is a nice warm burrito from Taco Bell? Hence, the plight of the new soccer mom. We probably all work 40 hours a week for a living. We probably all struggle to keep face as we frantically work, clean house, and act like a taxi to our children. We probably all finally arrive home most week nights after nine o’clock, trying to make sure everyone’s home work is done. And then have to pretend like we are completely satisfied and happy about it all as we wake up at ridiculous times in the morning.
Am I the only parent thinking that I did not sign up for a full time job after my daily full time job? Who else out there is tired? Who else out there is not as nice of a person because they are running on fumes day in and day out? To hell with all of you super moms who pretend like you don’t need some kind of hiatus! I, for one, am planting my white flag of surrender! I’m tired. I’m bored. And I am mad! All I want is a little time to recoup my strength. It has to be totally uninterrupted time to…an urban legend for most of us parents.
